Tyler Ricketts

Candidate for Corresponding Secretary

Howdy, Clark Dems,

I’m Tyler Ricketts, and I’m running with the Reimagine Slate to serve as Corresponding Secretary on the Clark Dems Executive Board. I’m asking for your vote and would like to tell you a bit more about myself and what I want to do if elected.

My Goals

To win in 2026 and 2028, we must focus on crafting a winning message, expanding our outreach to voters, and recruiting effective candidates, organizers, and communicators. Our messaging needs to be more straightforward, more direct, and memorable. We must adapt to the video-first social media landscape and provide content in more places. We must be prepared to create content, share our message widely, and persuade our friends, family, and neighbors to join us.

If elected, I will serve as the Communications Committee Chair, which will direct and implement Clark Dems’ messaging and communications strategy for upcoming elections. In that capacity, here is some of what I’d like to do:

  • Expand our social media presence to new platforms.

  • Incorporate grassroots feedback from local clubs and caucuses to help shape messaging and outreach strategies.

  • Collaborate with other party leaders to ensure a consistent voice and message in our comms.

  • Support outreach efforts to educate voters on our key issues and priorities.

  • Refresh our website and highlight more information from our affiliated clubs and caucuses.

  • Enhance internal operations and explore the use of new tools to build a robust county party infrastructure.

  • Operate honestly and respectfully with everyone I work with.

Clark Dems is the largest and most diverse county party in Nevada. We have a unique opportunity to flex our political muscle to shape the direction of our party and our politics. If we can leverage the expertise of our grassroots leaders like you and give you the tools and resources you need, we will be a party that wins elections for decades to come.

Let’s win together!

My Background

I’m a pragmatic progressive who believes public service is about making life better. I think the government should help people have housing, healthcare, education, food, and safety. I don’t want billionaires controlling my life or my government. I’m in this fight to fix that and make them pay their fair share.

My passion for politics began as a senior in high school when I volunteered for then-Senator Obama’s campaign, helping to get out the vote for Democrats up and down the ballot in rural Bates County, Missouri. I grew up in the Kansas City area and moved to Las Vegas in 2021 to be closer to friends and the mountains. I’m proud to call Nevada home. In 2024, I was an active volunteer for the NV Dems, canvassing and donating to support local, state, and national races. I also ran for National Delegate to the DNC at the NV Dems State Convention.

I am a former student government nerd looking to make the world a better place. I studied at the University of Missouri, where I earned a BA in Political Science from the Truman School of Government and Public Affairs, a Minor in Business, and a Certificate in Multicultural Studies. As Communications Director for Mizzou College Democrats, I helped President Obama and Senator Claire McCaskill get re-elected in the 2012 cycle.

After college, I began working in the Learning & Development industry, where I found a niche in the healthcare software specialty. As a manager for Cerner, now Oracle Health, I led multi-site training projects and traveled the world, training thousands of nurses and doctors on electronic medical record software. Currently, I’m a Senior Trainer with AbbaDox, helping imaging centers improve operations.

In my free time, you can find me hanging out with friends and family, playing games, reading, traveling, catching up on the latest show, watching a football game, or rewatching The West Wing.

It would be an honor to serve, and I hope I can count on your support!

In Solidarity,
Tyler Ricketts
